Welcome to Skybyn ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your data when you use our mobile application (the "App") and services. Please read this policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this privacy policy, please do not access the application.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information that identifies, relates to, describes, references, is capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular consumer or device.

  • Personal Data: Personally identifiable information, such as your name, email address, and profile image, that you voluntarily give to us when you register with the App.
  • Derivative Data: Information our servers automatically collect when you access the App, such as your IP address, your native device ID (e.g., Google Advertising ID or Android ID), device type, and operating system version.
  • Communication Data: Provide chat and calling features, including text messages, media files (photos, videos), and call logs. While we facilitate real-time communication, we do not monitor your private calls.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to provide, maintain, and improve our services. Specifically, we use your data to:

  • Create and manage your account.
  • Enable user-to-user communications (chat, voice, and video calls).
  • Send you push notifications regarding updates, chat messages, or incoming calls.
  • Monitor and analyze usage and trends to improve your experience.
  • Prevent fraudulent transactions, monitor against theft, and protect against criminal activity.

4. App Permissions

To provide our core features, the Skybyn App requires access to specific device permissions:

  • Camera & Microphone: Strictly required for enabling voice and video calling features and for capturing photos/videos to share in chats.
  • Location (Optional): Used only if you opt-in to features like "Friend Discovery" or sharing your location in a chat. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device settings.
  • Storage / Photos: Required to allow you to upload profile pictures and send media attachments in chats.
  • Notifications: Required to alert you of incoming messages and calls when the app is in the background.

5. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell your personal data. We may share information we have collected about you in certain situations using third-party services for infrastructure purposes:

  • Firebase (Google): We use Google Firebase for authentication, database services, and crash reporting. Firebase may collect data such as IP addresses and device identifiers to provide these services.
  • Legal Obligations: We may disclose your information where we are legally required to do so in order to comply with applicable law, governmental requests, a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

Retention: We retain your personal information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will retain and use your information to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our policies.

Account Deletion: You have the right to delete your account and all associated data at any time. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.

  • In-App Deletion: You can delete your account directly inside the App by navigating to Settings > Account > Delete Account.
  • Web Request: If you cannot access the app, you may request account deletion by emailing us at support@skybyn.no with the subject line "Account Deletion Request". We will process your request within 30 days.

Upon deletion, all your personal data, including your profile, messages, and friend lists, will be permanently removed from our active databases.

7. Security of Your Information

We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your personal information. Your data is stored on secure servers and transmitted using industry-standard TLS/SSL encryption protocols. While we have taken reasonable steps to secure the personal information you provide to us, please be aware that despite our efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and no method of data transmission can be guaranteed against any interception or other type of misuse.

8. Children's Privacy

We do not knowingly solicit information from or market to children under the age of 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under age 13 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. If you become aware of any data we may have collected from children under age 13, please contact us at support@skybyn.no.

9. Use of WebRTC

Our calling feature uses WebRTC technology to establish peer-to-peer connections. While we facilitate the connection through our signaling servers, the media stream (audio/video) is encrypted and transmitted directly between users whenever possible. We do not record or store user calls on our servers.
